peter f asked:

I was offered a chance to purchase a car at auction for auction. The car was impounded in Pennsylvania for traffic offenses, and the storage and towing fees. I was thinking of buying it for my neices, but do not know how to get clear title, and what types of problems I will face from the owners, if I win the auction. Is it a lot of trouble, will I lose my money if they fight it, can they somehow get it back, etc?
thanks.

When you buy the car the car at the aution they will give you all the necessary paperwork to get a title in your name. There will be no problems from the former owners. By the time the car reaches the auction the former owners have given up any rights to the car. So no worries about them trying to get it back or anything, if they do try anything, it’s called grand theft auto at this point.

The auctioneer already has the information you need to buy the car. Chances are if it’s up for auction the prevous owner lost it for some reason. They no longer own it at time of auction. Thw auctioneer will give you everything you need to make the transfer to you

    Create a video blog…instantly.

you will get either a clean title upon payment or the necessary papers to file for a clean title. former owners have NO say in this matter since if it’s being auctioned off, the former owners are way far and gone from this matter. once you get the car and paid for it, the title will be yours. nothing from the previous owners will come back and haunt you if that’s what you’re worried about.

They have lost the car. It wouldn’t have been auctioned if they still held title. Call the local titling office in your area and ask them what the procedure and time frame is. It may just be a matter of filing for a lost title and waiting 60 days.
