How would I go about getting a car from a car auction?

pяєтту_9!яl asked:

I have a 2003 Saturn LS 300 (V6), but every time I turn around its giving me problems! I will be getting married soon and moving to AZ.. ( Im currently in GA.. if that matters) I'm trying to get another car before then, or at least after I move.. How does this process work and how do I go about getting one?

Gotta wait for them to happen. They are advertised on TV or in newspapers. I’m sure there are some sites on the internet with auction listings. Go there on the day they are scheduled with whatever amount of money you’re willing to spend. Most times you can’t test drive, get CARFAX reports, or inspect them. Sold AS IS no warranty or protection if anything goes wrong. The keys might not even be availabe in some cases. This makes going to auctions very, very risky since you want a car that won’t give you as many problems as your Saturn is. See something you like, you make a bid. Someone else makes a higher bid, you gotta make a higher bid, etc. etc. If you get the highest bid, you win. Pay the amount you bid, you drive home. Anything happens its your problem.

Why not just buy from a private seller instead? You’ll be better off.

You need to bring someone who knows about cars to the auction so that you don’t buy a piece of junk! If you don’t know a mechanic you could always pay one to come with you.
